but how? she persisted
because her mother smiled
your heart will sing new songs
...your spirit will dance
and your life... she whispered
will never be the same...

sometimes you laugh
you know... that funky
sidways smirk
and I know
everything's going to be alright

what you don't understand
she quietly confided
is that I need you
...more than you need me
the tiny eyes stared back confused
she thought she would hold on
and never let go

her miracle
came unannounced
...and in an odd
package
It looked different than she had imagined
unpolished
untimely
unexpected
...unpretentious...
...yet fit perfectly
divinely constructed

sometimes my single friends tell me
how lucky I am, she winked...
sometimes, she paused and whispered...

when she desperately clutched her dreams
they would often wiggle free and swim away
it wasn't until
she learned to swim
that it became clear

of old & wise
green & blessed truths

and saved her from freezing

they had their own language
nods, glances
...smirks
and mischevious
winks
they wielded
their powers
with great
restraint
...but unleashed love
like the mighty

with years came courage
and they finally faced off
she and herself...herself and she
eye to eye
they looked
each other over...
sized each other up...
and cried enought for two
she ultimately noticed herself as gentle and kind
herself decided forgiveness
was deserving of she
